An update on our classes!!
Hi parents,
I would like to give you a view into how are classes are right now. I have to say I couldn´t be more happy with every single one of the children, I thoroughly enjoy every minute of our 2 hours a week after school. They are doing exceptionally well, it is a shame that I can´t video the whole class because they are constantly expressing themselves in English and demonstrating their knowledge.
I will give you some examples of some of the brilliant things that happen in class, a lot of the best things that make me smile the most happen when the children are talking amongst themselves. So when handing out the books, pencils, etc the children say please, thank you and your welcome to each other. They will say sentences to each other adding in the English words they know, for example "me dejas the sharpener, please."
When we are eating before class they will be singing, without prompting, one of the songs we have learnt. On Monday two of the girls were practicing counting to 20, one of the girls missed out a number, so the other girl said "no, sixteen" and the other girl started again and counted perfectly.
Honestly I really love this class, I always try to do my best in whatever I do, but my job is made easy in this case because the children are so brilliant and enthusiastic.
Please feel free to talk to me anytime after class, in English or in Spanish.
Thanks,
Tom
P.s. Lo voy a escribir en castellano también cuando alguien puede comprobar lo que he escrito.

Alphabet Update
Hello parents,
So we are doing exceptionally well in class right now. Each child has recited the alphabet song for me on their own. With the song and the games that we play I feel that the children have a great understanding of what we are studying. What we are focusing on now is being able to hear a letter and relate it to the written form, so here are some games that we play to help:
http://www.abcya.com/kindergarten_alphabet_bingo.htm
http://pbskids.org/superwhy/#game/alphabricks
The second link is really fantastic because their are several games on the alphabet and many other subjects too.
Thanks,
Tom

Our first class!
Hi parents,
So we had our first class yesterday of "Tom´s English". We had a really great time. We started by talking about what we were eating during snack time. Then we did the first two pages of the class book, for me it was great to use the book for the first time with these ages. The children were really excited about it and asked a lot of questions, I think it will be a great addition to the childrens learning process.
We then came upstiars to the "English Only Room", already on the walls we have pictures the children had drawn of themselves in class at school. The children then voted for who they wanted as their class mascot; Winnie the Poo, Eeyore or Tigger. Tigger was the resounding winner with over half the votes, so you will be seeing him soon in your homes!!
To finish of the class we started work on the daily routine, focusing on the morning. The key phrases are:
Wake up (despertarse)
Get up (levantarse)
Get dressed (vestirse)
Eat breakfast (desayunar)
Brush your teeth (cepillarse los dientes)
Thanks very much,
Tom
